ST. LOUIS – Police are still searching for the driver of a red sedan responsible for a fatal hit-and-run in south St. Louis City.

The incident that left a woman dead happened Sunday night on Gravois Avenue at Spring Avenue. In a statement to FOX 2, Mayor Tishaura Jones’ office said in part, “this tragic incident again highlights how the current ward-by-ward approach has not made our streets safer and the need for a citywide mobility and transportation plan.”

Residents in the area voiced their ideas as well.

“I think speed bumps would work because people would slow down, right?” Renato Flamenco of Truc Lam Restaurant said. “Put cameras in case they get away.”

This is the third fatal incident since mid-July to raise concerns about pedestrian and bicyclist safety in South City.
